MEEKBOYZ RACING

The Meek family has a long history with bike racing. Toby and Rory started out racing BMX from the ages of four and five. As a family  Steve, Donna and the boys travelled all over the world racing BMX for eight years. 

They raced multiple world championships for the kiwi national teams and Rory won two World No.3 bronze medals. They raced in Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America and South America as BMX groms.

As the boys moved into downhill racing, they began competing in the Kidsworx events at Crankworx each year in Whistler, Canada and Rotorua, New Zealand. Multiple podiums were regularly achieved at multiple events by both boys.

This racing pedigree culminated in the next step where Toby was invited to race UCI Downhill World Cups in U19 Elite Men for Markus Stoeckl, team owner of MS Mondraker Team, a European-based Elite Downhill MTB team. Plagued by a shoulder and hip injury in Toby’s junior years, his best result was No.6 in U19 Men at Lourdes in 2022 and an IXS Cup win at Maribor in U19 Men in 2021. In 2023, Toby entered Elite Men as the 2023 New Zealand Elite Men’s National Champion, wearing the NZ National sleeve at world cups. Toby finished the year ranked in the Top 60 in the new format created by WBD.

2024 sees a new chapter beginning where we have set up our own UCI Elite Mountain Bike team, MeekBoyz Racing. Toby and Rory are backed by some major non-industry sponsors which allows for the team to have more autonomy with bike parts and set-up systems. They also have a few industry sponsors behind them which contribute to the team considerably; Continental and Oneal.

The world cup journey for 2024 is an experiment, that brings the strengths of family, industry and non-industry support together to put all those years of racing experience into practice in an elite setting. Anyone wishing to become a non-industry sponsor is welcome to make contact and discuss being a part of this exciting new venture into the unknown.
