Crankworx Whistler 2016

The MeekBoyz Take on Crankworx Whistler

The lads had a blast at their first Crankworx this year. Prior to race week, they trained on the new trails with Dad, Chewy and Brian and had a few great runs down the slopes with the pros Mick Hannah and Team Polygon, Cedric Gracia, Sam Blenkinsop, Brook MacDonald and kid-legend Jackson Goldstone. The Whistler trails are a dream for downhill mountain bike riders.

Toby smashed the revamped Crab Apple Hits, on his first attempt, after walking it, sizing it up and deciding he could crack it all on his own. And sure enough…. he did it in typical-Toby-style. The boys also enjoyed a few great film sessions with Dirt Bike and Captyvate Media.

The Launch of the MeekBoyz 20″ Downhill Minibeast

Rory was stoked to launch and test our prototype 20″ DH Minibeast out on the Whistler trails and what a spectacle that was! What sets this bike apart from all others? How it feels to ride and how it handles the big downhill trails.

It really is the Rolls-Royce of riding; the highest performance bike that money can deliver in the downhill world for our new generation of kids. If you are looking to make downhill more accessible for your child, perhaps with plans to enter your child in the growing downhill race circuit for kids, this is the ultimate machine to achieve higher riding performance, confidence and skill level. We are so stoked with its test-month in Whistler – outperforming our wildest hopes! Time to get it finished now and ready for market!

On August 15th, both lads raced the Kidworx B-Line and unfortunately there were some serious timing inconsistencies with Rory’s age-race results. Toby raced in the A-line Invitational for 10-12 year olds and came a Top 10 finish, placing a very respectable 7th place out of 35 riders.

We are now feeling very excited about the launch of our 20″ DH bike, which will enter the high-end downhill market, in early 2017. Just a few minor adjustments need to be done before it goes into commercial production. It was a star attraction at Crankworx, turning the heads of the many elite downhill riders and riding families, due to its unique downhill design and quality riding components, which match the same high quality as the pros’ bikes.
